The reserve is never opened. The sacrifice vault is a second, smaller stock of CS20 Cases, bought separately and kept on a separate account, so that something can be opened when the project hits a milestone without the reserve counter ever moving off zero.

Opening tickets
Tickets are not Steam keys. Since 2019 a key bought in the game stays on the account that bought it, so the project opens the vault itself, on the sacrifice account, live, and a ticket attributes one opening to one participant. Tickets are never sold.
| Who | Gets |
|---|---|
| Holders of 1% or more of supply | A guaranteed opening ticket |
| Holders of 0.25% or more | Entry in the ticket raffle |
| Wallets holding since the previous milestone | A bonus ticket |
| Top community contributors | Tickets set aside by the team |
| Random eligible holders | A handful of tickets, drawn in public |
Allocation favours time held and participation over a last-minute snapshot. The exact rules for each event are published before the event, and reviewed before any opening is presented as a reward of value.

Why the counter stays at zero
Cases opened at an event never belonged to the reserve. They are bought with the 5% share, held on CS2_SACRIFICE_01, and counted separately from the first day. The reserve account is public; anyone can check that nothing left it.
Openings involve a case, a key and a random result, and taking part depends on holding a token. In some places that combination raises loot box or gambling questions. The reserve and the community events are kept on separate accounts and separate pages for that reason, and the event rules get a legal review before any prize is promised.
